July Fourth '05
We celebrated New York style on July 4th...we loaded up the family and met our church launch team at 34th and Madison to head to the FDR freeway! Yes, we watched the fireworks sitting on our blankets in the middle of a usually bumper-to-bumper freeway. The FDR is closed down on the east side for fireworks. Don't get me wrong...it was still crowded! About 3 million people decided to join us. It was spectacular! Four identically syncronized displays at once of the most grand fireworks I've seen. You could see and smell the smoke and ashes we were so close to the river! Really awesome. It took us 2 hours to get home afterwards including a walk to the subway, a subway ride, and a short walk home from the subway. Worth the trek. Enjoy the pictures.
